Identifying Different Versions
IC series
Since PCB swapping between these cases is trivial, you can't be sure which revision you have without powering on a Genesis 1. Apart from that, here are some clues as to which version of Genesis you're holding:
Early, VA2/3 without TMSS: FCC ID on bottom sticker: FJ846EUSASEGA
Later, VA5/6 with TMSS: FCC ID: FJ8USASEGA
No EXT port: Probably a VA5 / VA6
IC or PC/VA7
It's quite easy to identify whether a Genesis 1 is an IC series or PC (aka VA7) series. The ports are located in a different spot on the PC / VA7 units. If the power jack isn't all the way to the right, it's a PC / VA7 Genesis. From a component standpoint, the PC VA7 is basically a Genesis 2 in a Genesis 1 shell.
